Supporting

Upon nomination and endorsement by a constituent chapter, licensed physicians may be elected to Supporting membership. the shall consist of two types and meet one of the following two requirements:

Physicians who have been actively engaged in the practice or teaching of family medicine or in medical administration for the previous six years but who do not qualify for Active membership because they did not complete the necessary residency training, or because they did not hold or apply for active membership prior to January 1, 1989.

Physicians Actively Engaged in in Family Medicine

Applicants must have completed 150 credits of postgraduate study, all of which must be AAFP Prescribed during the three years immediately preceding application for supporting membership.
