Legislative Advocacy

The MassAFP Committee on Legislation and Regulatory Affairs has developed a strong and viable legislative agenda for the Academy. Members of the Committee actively participate in the legislative process on behalf of family physicians throughout the Commonwealth. They engage legislators in an effort to increase their knowledge about family physicians and family medicine. The Committee is always looking for volunteers to become involved and help with the process of engaging and educating their legislators. The Academy employs a part-time legislative consultant who represents the interests of family medicine within the state legislature on an on-going basis.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) lobbies all levels of government and payors to work for fair reimbursement for family physicians. The AAFP also works to streamline paperwork and regulations associated with the practice of family medicine.
