The Massachusetts Consultation Service for the Treatment of Addiction and Pain (MCSTAP)

The MCSTAP team provides real-time support for clinicians on the pressing and challenging issues that they face in treating patients with chronic pain, SUD, or both.

In our first six months, consultations have ranged on a whole host of issues related to patients with chronic pain, with SUD, or with both conditions.

The questions that clinicians call about vary, from very specific—such as questions about medication dosing—to very complex, related to overall management of a patient’s care.

Nearly one third of the clinicians who have used MCSTAP’s services are repeat callers for consultations on multiple cases.

Many callers have indicated that after a consultation, they feel more knowledgeable and confident about caring for complex patients.

We are here to support your clinicians.

We would like your help in spreading the word about MCSTAP.

We have brochures and posters that clinicians can hang in their offices.  Let us know if you would like some to distribute.
We can meet with provider practices and deliver grand rounds on topics related to chronic pain and SUD. Please let us know if you are interested in a live presentation or a webinar.
We can provide articles for newsletters about MCSTAP and the issues that we address.
MCSTAP’s website is www.mcstap.com.  Please visit our site.
We are on Twitter at @MCSTAP_Consult.  Please follow us.
We are interested in your ideas about how we can help.  Please share them with us.
