COMMITTEES

Our focus is Family Medicine. Get more involved in MassAFP, the only organization in Massachusetts fully dedicated to providing value to our Family Physician members and their patients through advocacy, education and workforce initiatives.

GET INVOLVED!

Dear Mass AFP Members,

We would like to identify Mass AFP members who are interested in contributing to two initiatives to increase member engagement.

We are looking for members interested in assisting the Board of Directors with social media/communications charge. Topics for discussion include strategy, vision, purpose including exploring and advising on ways to communicate, interacting with our members, the public and potentially appeal to new members, reporting on social media, pros/cons, options, and sustainability.

In addition, leadership would like to identify members who are interested in assisting with medical school/residency connections. Topics for discussion include strategy for engaging with our state FM residency and medical school leadership, including how to connect/bring value to students/residents, compiling key connections/collaborators at each site.

Please email Chapter Executive Tricia Kennedy at TKennedy@mms.org if you are interested in participating in either or both work groups.

Thank you,

Emily Chin, MD

President MassAFP

Legislative and Advocacy Committee

This committee recommends and advocates for policy on local legislation affecting the practice of family medicine, access to family physicians, and key issues affecting our patient population. This committee also works through the executive director to coordinate efforts with MassAFP's contract lobbyist and identifies legislation where the MassAFP could provide support and awareness through education (in collaboration with the education committee), advocacy, and leadership (through board involvement and other measures). We meet on a monthly basis and any MassAFP member interested in joining should contact massafp@mms.org.

Education Committee

Oversees MassAFP Annual Meeting & Spring Refresher educational programming including topics and tracks, KSA sessions and poster presentations. MA's regulatory requirements are monitored and taken into consideration in program development. Determines needs and identifies topics for additional programming and acts as the clearing house for educational program proposals. Also has oversight responsibilities for the process for obtaining AAFP CME credit and assigning a designated CME physician reviewer.

As you can see, these are very important areas for MassAFP to address. We are appointing workgroups to help formulate strategies, outcomes and timelines. Workgroups will be limited in the time and number of meetings. This is where we need your help!

We need members to help serve on these workgroups. Meetings will be via phone conference and limited to 3-5 meetings. If you have any interest in the above topics please help us by agreeing to serve on a workgroup.

If interested, email chapter executive Tricia Kennedy and she will provide you with more details. Thank you in advance - we NEED your participation, ideas and energy!
